Aether Fuels Announces Leadership Appointments and $15M in Additional Funding to Accelerate Project Beacon and Advance Commercialization of Aether Aurora Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Singapore
Aether Fuels Announces Leadership Appointments and $15M in Additional Funding.
CHICAGO, Illinois and SINGAPORE, Dec. 30, 2025 — Aether Fuels (Aether), a sustainable fuels technology company advancing next-generation solutions for aviation and maritime decarbonization, today announced new leadership appointments and funding that help accelerate the company’s momentum toward full commercialization. The updates follow Aether’s recently announced first commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility in Singapore, located at Aster’s fully integrated refining and chemical hub on Palau Bukom.
Leadership Appointments Strengthen Global Execution and Asia Growth
As part of its continued scale-up, Aether announced the appointment of Stu Stott as Global Vice President of Projects, strengthening the company’s ability to deliver large-scale sustainable fuels infrastructure across international markets. Stu will be based in Singapore through the execution of Project Beacon.
Stu brings deep experience developing and delivering complex energy infrastructure projects across the globe, spanning both traditional and sustainable energy sectors. His background includes leading the development of multiple LNG terminals and integrated power infrastructure projects in Asia as Project Director at AG&P LNG; delivering first-of-a-kind sustainable fertilizer facilities in the U.S. Midwest; driving development of a $2.7 billion offshore LNG and power project with Energy Capital Vietnam; and executing award-winning combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants and LNG facilities at Exelon. His experience spans the full project lifecycle, from origination and structuring through execution and optimization, across the U.S. and Asia.
In his role at Aether, Stu will lead the successful delivery of the company’s commercial-scale sustainable fuels production facilities, overseeing end-to-end project development from conceptual engineering through final investment decision (FID). As a member of Aether’s leadership team, he will play a central role in executing projects utilizing the company’s breakthrough Aether Aurora™ technology, building and mentoring high-performing teams, and engaging stakeholders globally to advance Aether’s mission of enabling a net-zero world through sustainable liquid fuels.
Aether also announced that Mei Chia, who has been with the company since 2023, will lead a new Singapore R&D Center, which Aether plans to establish in 2026. Prior to Aether, Mei was a Deputy Director at the Science and Engineering Research Council and Scientist at the Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) where she managed the portfolio of advanced materials and additive manufacturing. She also holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mei’s leadership supports Aether’s growing technical footprint in the region and strengthens integration between R&D, demonstration, and commercial deployment activities.
Aether’s Singapore presence also includes TC Goh, who has been leading business development efforts across the region since joining Aether in January 2025. He brings over 20 years of leadership experience across energy and infrastructure sectors, having held senior roles at Fortescue, Hexagon, and Sembcorp Industries. Leveraging an extensive regional network across the energy value chain, TC is driving partnerships, project development, and market expansion as Aether deepens its presence in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Commercial Momentum Builds in Singapore with Project Beacon
Aether’s expanded Singapore presence coincides with continued progress on Project Beacon, Aether’s flagship next-generation commercial-scale SAF production facility being developed in partnership with Aster at Aster’s Bukom Island refinery in Singapore. The 50-barrel-per-day (2,000 tons per year) facility will utilize Aether Aurora™ to convert industrial waste gas and biomethane into CORSIA-certified SAF, with greenhouse gas emissions reductions anticipated to exceed 70 percent. Engineering is underway, and construction is expected to begin in 2026, with commercial operations expected in 2028, marking the region’s first facility of its kind.
Additional Capital Accelerates Beacon Execution
Aether recently closed $15M in convertible note financing, including investments from new investors Aster Ventures (deep tech arm of Aster) and EDBI, the investment arm of SG Growth Capital, alongside existing investors AP Ventures, Xora Innovation, CDP Venture Capital , TechEnergy Ventures, Foothill Ventures, Eni Next, and Chevron Technology Ventures. To date, Aether has secured over $60 million in funding, and this most recent investment was catalyzed by Aether’s announcement of Project Beacon. These funds will be used to accelerate the execution of that project.
“Aether is closing the year with strong momentum across leadership, technology, and project execution,” said Conor Madigan, Founder and CEO of Aether Fuels. “First, we are thrilled to add Aster Ventures and Singapore’s EDBI as new investors. Second, over the past 12 months, we’ve expanded our global team and advanced our first commercial facility in Singapore, while simultaneously maturing and scaling our core technology through our pilot and demo projects in the U.S. Bringing leaders like Stu onto the team positions us exceptionally well as we move from demonstration to deployment.”
